CBT Distinguished Speaker Series

The College of Business and Technology has joined in partnership with the Richmond Chamber of Commerce and the Richmond Rotary Club to provide a Distinguished Speaker for Eastern Kentucky University this fall. The mission of the College’s Distinguished Speaker Series is to bring leaders of business, industry, and government to the EKU campus to address students, faculty, and members of the Richmond community and surrounding areas on current topics and issues.
We are pleased to welcome Ms. Toni Hacker, co-founder of Hayden-Harnett in Brooklyn and New York City, as the College of Business and Technology 2009 Distinguished Speaker. She will visit the EKU campus on Thursday, October 8, 2009, to speak with College faculty, staff and students.
As part of the Distinguished Speaker Series, the College of Business and Technology invites prominent leaders to our campus to discuss current topics and issues related to their expertise. The guest speaker has an opportunity to interact with students, faculty, and other interested participants during a public address, round table discussion, and luncheon. We are pleased to have the Richmond Chamber of Commerce and Richmond Rotary Club join with us in providing this enrichment opportunity.

We are honored to have Ms. Toni Hacker, an Eastern alumnus, as this year’s Distinguished Speaker. Ms. Hacker is a highly successful entrepreneur. She and her partner Ben Harnett have created Hayden-Harnett in Brooklyn and New York City - designer and retailer of fine leather handbags, accessories, and fresh new apparel. A native of Manchester, Kentucky, Ms. Harnett's business philosophy, while hard-working, is equally staff healthy and planet friendly. Internet marketing is a linchpin of the company's success along with consumer care and priceless word-of-mouth. Creating 'beautiful objects of use' at an affordble price has built a very successful business on a philosophy of integrity and community.
Ms. Hacker will speak on her experiences at a Public Address in the Business and Technology Center Auditorium from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. She will also be available to discuss current events and issues at a Faculty Breakfast Roundtable from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. in the Faculty Lounge of the Keen Johnson Building.
Following the public address, Ms. Hacker will join EKU Administration officials and the Richmond business community for a luncheon at the Arlington House.
